Ron Calhoun is a healthcare risk consulting leader who has centered his expertise on developing ways to provide unique data-driven analytics, advisory, and related services to help providers, payers, and employers perfect unrealized recovery rights related to uncompensated care (UCC). Those recovery rights have represented material retrospective reimbursements for UCC rendered by providers and/or claims paid through employer-sponsored self-insured health plans relating to complex trauma, Mass Tort Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) settlements, and other unique healthcare related third-party liability sources.
Working together with clients and our internal risk and compliance functions, Ron’s expertise uniquely qualifies him to assure that our differentiating analytics and related outreach and recovery services are delivered in a regulatory compliant manner.
Over the course of his career, Ron has served in a number of leadership roles at Aon, Johnson & Higgins, Marsh, and Wachovia spearheading innovative solutions to meet the strategic, financial, and operational needs of the healthcare provider and employer communities. His influence earned him an invitation as the first risk consultant to serve on the Health Management Academy. He has also served on the Advisory Board of Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management Healthcare MBA Program. Additionally, Ron has been called to present healthcare-centric information to Congress as it strives to transform the U.S. healthcare delivery system.
Prior to the formation of Allēus Health Analytics, Ron led Aon’s Healthcare Provider Transformation Group within Aon Global Strategy. This collaboration between Aon Risk Solutions, Aon Hewitt, and Aon Benfield focused on assisting health care providers with the transition from traditional fee-for-service payment models to the wide spectrum of value-based payment methodologies and direct contracting models.
Ron is currently serving on the Health Care Transformation Task Force – Bundled Payment Workgroup, and sits on the Advisory Board for the National Safety Net Advancement Center (SNAC). He is also a contributor to the Accountable Care Learning Collaborative (ACLC).
Ron received his BSBA in Finance & Accounting from The Citadel, and an MHRD from Clemson University. Before he entered the healthcare industry, Ron served in the U.S. Navy as a Submarine Service (SS) qualified member of the U.S. Naval Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine Warfare Group.
